Purpose of TCEF
The Tri-City Education Foundation is a not for profit corporation formed to provide financial support for the Tri-City Schools through funds raised by tax deductible contributions. The Foundation is governed by an eight-member Board comprised of community volunteers. They are independent of, but work with, the Tri-City Board of Education and Administration to maximize educational opportunities for our students.
Funds received by the Foundation are used to fund grants which will increase academic achievement, provide educational equipment, and support special projects. Foundation funds supplement, enhance and enrich existing educational programs. Funds may also be used to support innovative academic units designed to increase student achievement.
The Tri-City Education Foundation has been approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)3 not for profit corporation. This "tax-exempt " status allows citizens to make tax-deductible contributions directly to the Foundation. The Foundation has funded a little over $297,000 of support for the Tri-City Schools in its eleven years of existence.
Who determines how the funds are spent?
Spending decisions are made by the Foundation after consultation with district administrators. Advice and opinions are solicited from parents and other members of the community.
Is my contribution tax deductible?
YES! Your contribution to the Foundation may be treated as a charitable deduction for federal income, gift, and estate tax purposes.
May I designate how my contribution is to be spent?
YES! The Foundation accepts both directed (at the time of the contribution) and undirected contributions, as well as endowment funds and donations for specific purposes. However, because of its tax-free status, it must reserve the right to accept or reject any donations that might jeopardize this status.
How do I contribute?
Simply fill out the donation form above and send your contributions to Tri-City Education Foundation, 324 West Charles Street/PO Box 290, Buffalo, IL 62515.
