This Week in Third

Language Arts:

This week we will be exploring what we can learn about nature by investigating. Our nonfiction story is called Seeing Stars. We will read to find facts and details to help us see stars in a whole new way!

We are using our nonfiction reading strategies and graphic sources to help understand information in the text. Mrs. Kindel is helping us refine our nonfiction summarizing skills.

Math:

The students are working so hard on their multiplication facts. Thanks for your help at home. Our Chapter 11 test will be at the end of the week. Remind your student they have a variety of strategies for solving unknown facts. They should now be using charts or calculators on homework. They need to memorize their facts or practice a strategy.

Science:

We have completed our Sound Module. We will be working from our Social Studies curriculum for the next unit.

Social Studies:

We started Unit 3 in the textbook. We will be working on time lines and history of communities this week.

We are beginning to talk about the ISAT tests which will begin on March 6. Please talk to your child about the importance of giving their best effort throughout the testing period.
